Smorty as my first try on Paid Posting

Written on 7:42 PM by Mai

I first tried Smorty when I started doing paid posting job. I did well on them but soon advertisers become less and worse, i never had any reviews from then at this very moment... Never had for the past few months, I was happy with them at first because they do pay me well but sooner I just get disappointed from them. Good thing that there are great other paid posting services that makes me survive this job. They are a lot better than smorty. They never let me down up to now. I'll be posting other services that I'm in to on my future posts.

Money in Blogging - Introduction2 - (My Actual Earnings) Revealed!!!

Written on 7:57 PM by Mai

see my newer post - Money in Blogging - My Introduction

I just then thought of how much did I actually earn since I started working online, I think my blogging addiction has been a year now BUT I started to try working online just this year, this was based on my Paypal history. My very first earning was on Feb. 7, 2008, which is $44.40, not bad huh? This earning came from SMORTY, yup... I got them from this service, was active at this times but now, maybe they are lacking advertisers already due to increasing number of paid posting services. But if you have luck, it's not to late for you to sign up now in Smorty - (HERE)

see my older post about smorty - HERE

Now, I thought of calculating all my earnings since I started blogging and share it to you guys!!! yup!!! I hope you'll be inspired and work more harder after reading this posts. Okay, let's stop on making you guys waiting. My calculations, based on my paypal account history from february of this year was around $2000 already, I was a bit surprised after computing all my payments received, specifically from advertisers and company, I can't imagine that I already have this money just by blogging. I didn't finish a computer course and I just started blogging this year, that's why I should say that i truly am proud of myself.

Of course I don't have that specific amount on my pocket now, I do spend you know. For food, shopping, stuffs, buying domains, even donations, and many more.... But I don't have to worry, I know how to save so I still have more on my savings. Now that Christmas is near, my family will surely have gifts from me. Stay put on my upcoming posts. Aside from Smorty, where did I get my earnings??? Will be posting that soon... :)

Money in Blogging - What am I doing with my Earnings?

Written on 7:31 PM by Mai

this post was inspired by my Big Bro MichaelWong's comment on my kookaboo blog few days ago. It started when I commented on his blog and mentioned that I am busy these past few days and sharing that i am doing a bit well on making money online.

@hey sis, thanks for stopping by. I updated my blogroll with all your new links. Keep them coming. I'll add as many as you have because 1) i love link exchanges 2) you're a wonderful person. WOW! You have been crazy busy and I am so happy to hear that blogging and posting has been paying off nicely for you. So what do you do with the money? Do you go shopping? Do you spend it on fancy gadgets? Most of my money is spent on restaurants and clothes. I really should start saving. I'm going to start making the rounds at your other blogs and learn something. Cheers and keep smiling smiley. -mw38

hmmm... what do I actually do with my earnings??? Honestly as far as I remember, when I started earning online for the first few months, I just did nothing... I want to save this money, that's the very thing that's stuck on my head.

But after few months again, I just realized that I'm earning a bit well and I must enjoy and reward my self for the hard work, so I started to withdraw from my account. I don't know the exact date on which I started to withdraw from my account but thanks to Paypal that they have this history on which you can view your account activity up from your very first earnings up to now. I receive all my earnings from Paypal. So if you are planning to work online, better sign up in Paypal now!

According to my Paypal history, I got my very first payment on Feb. 7, 2008 which is $44.40 USD. Then it was on May 16, 2008 when I started to withdraw. From February up to May, I had $369.70 on my Paypal account. But I just withdraw $180 from it, haha... I'm afraid that I could spend all of it so I just get the half from it.

So what did I do? I ate outside with my friends, I treat them of course, buy some clothes... some make ups?? haha... but I'm really careful not to spend so much.

At present, I have more money of course, I will share the details on my next posts, on how much I have on my account now and others. And now that I have more money, I spend most of them buying some groceries for our house, some clothes, foot wear, and treating my family and friends outside. Actually I'm spending more for others than for my self, I just don't know but it's what I am, kindhearted and very giving...*ehem. :D

I think twice and even thrice before I buy myself something but when others are in need I don't think twice to be able to help them. For me I've spend a lot already but I still have more on my account. So I'm still thinking of my plans in the future on where should I spend this money, wisely... Fancy Gadgets? No Big Bro, I just had my laptop (my moms gift for passing my local board exam) and 2 cellphones. I'm not into gadgets really. :D

I just thought of this: as for my short term goal, next month I would like to customize my laptop through Gmask since my laptop's cover looks bad already, I don't know what happened, it looks like a moist or something, I tried everything to get rid of it but i really can't. That's why I want to put a gmask on the cover, that's around $50-60 I guess... I'm really excited now.. :D

Not Satisfied with your Template??? Go find a Solution..

Written on 2:32 PM by Mai

I find this beautiful template for my Other site Bloom and Shine | Beauty Tips. I really liked its design but there are few things that I don't like about this template. One is that it is not that wide enough, and side bar is actually on the left. I did a little bit of experiment, just try my luck if I could put the side bar on the right side.

How did I change my side bar from left to right:

go to your edit html tab on layouts and find the /*-- (sidebar wrapper) --*/  codes  specifically like this code below: it might be not exactly the same, make sure to preview the outcome of every change after you save.

#sidebar1 {
    height:100%;
    margin-top:30px;
    text-align:left;
    vertical-align:top;
    width:250px;
    float:left; --- change to right! (float:right;)

Then your all set. Preview to make sure it has changed from left to right.

How to make your template more wider.

This is one is a bit difficult. I just did some experimentation to be able to get the right and wanted size of my template. Again I tried to manipulate the codes. I find the URL/Links of the images of the template, edit it in adobe, I made the size wider, from 600+ to 1000, and save in on my own account in photobucket and replace the links with my newly edited images.

Untitled

Its really difficult and would take much of your time but with your patience and perseverance you can actually find solutions. Just don't be afraid to try for your self, just be careful then you'll succeed. One of my wishes is to have a site of blogger templates, I just learned how to use adobe in editing templates and i think I'm doing well, just a little bit more experience then I can actually make my own template and build a site about it. Can't wait.. hihi...

How to Hide Blog Title and Blog Description

Written on 12:32 AM by Mai

As you can see in this blog's template, it's blog header and description is customized, actually it is an image file, which i made in adobe, I just started learning how to customize header images.

As we bloggers, we know that blog title and description is important for search optimization, title and description tags are one of those that are used by search engines to index your blog. But sometimes we want to make the most out of our templates that we customize our header, and so we must hide the blog title and description to be able to finalize our headers well.

Now, even if you customize your header maybe you'll experience that blog title and its description is still there overlapping on each other. As you can See on the images below, image no. 1 is the original header (has a blog title and description), followed by image 2 which as you can see, header background and blog title are overlapping on each other, and image 3 as all clear, Blog Title and Blog Description is hidden already.

How to Hide Blog Title and Blog Description:

there are two ways that I could share to you: don't forget to back up your template

1. Find this code in your edit html subtab of the layout tab in blogger.
(this may vary, sometimes its " .title h1{ or .title h2{ "

#header h1 {
margin:0 auto 0px;
padding:50px 0px 0px 200px;
line-height:1.1em;
text-transform:capitalize;
letter-spacing:.1em;
font: $pagetitlefont;
text-align: left;
display:none; ◄ ------then insert this line here
}

display:none; (our code)

this also goes with the subtitle or description
#header .description {
max-width:800px;
margin-top:15px;
margin-left: 200px;
text-transform:capitalize;
letter-spacing:.2em;
line-height: 1.2em;
font: $descriptionfont;
color: $descriptioncolor;
text-align: left;
display:none; ◄ ------then insert this line here
}

2. another way to hide title and description is to change the title's color to match the background.
you can do it, by going to Layouts- then Fonts and Colors sub tab, there you can choose the blog title color and description.

hope it helps
more blogging tips to come...

Money in Blogging - My Introduction

Written on 11:58 PM by Mai

What am I busy about these days? I'm blogging... doing my job, earning for a living.. My friends would ask me sometimes, what are you busy at these days? Blogging again?? Yup, Yeah right... They may have a lot of questions in mind. What is she blogging about? She said she's earning, how was it possible?

Blogging =is equal to= Money! Dollars! :)
"I've been a witness" + "I've experienced it myself"

But how??? Okay okay, to make it short, a good friend, my exboyfriend, i'm dead meat if he was able to read this, nyahaha... he introduced me to blogging, anyways he is a "webmaster" and earns well online, blogging is a part of it. I am also a computer person, i always explore, surf and was easy to learn new things. When he introduced me to blogging, I got interested, this is new... this is fun, and blogging became my past time. For couple of months I just do blogging, writing posts, meeting co-bloggers and all that, trying to explore more... I know, coz my good friend has already told me that i could earn through blogging but at first I was not really interested, maybe a bit but i need more inspiration and courage, coz' i really think that i can't make it.

As i was blog hopping around seeing blogs of few people, I learn that you can really make money through blogging, seeing different posts on how they got hteir first earnings, and seeing those widgets and banners of "Get Paid to Blog" and all that, this motivated me to start learning and doing this type of job. And so I started and doing this until now.

More posts about my blogging journey soon.. :p

Technorati Ping Problem - Authority is not Updating

Written on 1:32 PM by Mai

ok.. I had a problem with my other blog, on it's technorati specifically. I used to be a blogspot then I buy a domain for it, a .info. Then my problem in technorati came. I got a good authority of 247 when it was a blogspot then ofcourse I had to restart everything again because of my new domain. My new blog has reached authority of 7 for some time then it suddenly stopped!!!

I tried to ping them but it says that my site is flagged, and when im trying to click my blog from the list of my blogs in technorati, it says that they can't find my blog,(Sorry, we can’t find that blog).It's more than a month authority hasn't changed yet. I just realized then that it's not right anywmore, i still exchange links and participate in memes, still update my blog but authority stayed frozen. Because of this I mad a move, contacted them, participate in support forums which I think is really helpful coz I've read some of related topics and the admin responded after a day so I tried it for my self.

this is how it goes:

my blog was flagged by the systems

Posted: 2008-09-23 23:34:29

hi I think there's a problem with my blog

http://solo-flight.info

Sorry, we can’t find that blog

We’re sorry…we don't have a blog by that name. If this is your blog, look over our Blog Quality Guidelines and submit your blog for review by pinging us. Or better yet, claim your blog to get into the high priority queue!

this site is from solo-flight.blogspot.com, and i changed its domain name

i deleted claim from the old blog and claim again the old site with a new domain

and now its more than a month and my pings didn't respond

HELP!!!

then I got a reply the next day: :)

my blog was flagged by the systems

Posted: 2008-09-24 10:45:23

Hello emjei: I'm afraid that your blog was flagged for review (a large portion of .info blogs are spam which is why it was flagged). I've reviewed your blog and it should now be indexed for its most recent posts as well as claimable

Wow, problem solved! I checked my blog and it's authority is now 61 with 2 fans. Whew... Now I know what to do next time. :)

Home Office Jobs

Written on 1:36 PM by Mai

Oil price especially here in the Philippines is dramatically increasing, so most people chooses to go commuting rather than use their cars. But sometimes people still wants to drive their cars to go to work, since pollution at present really affects our health. But how about those jobs at home? Surely they save a lot on pumping gas and also prevents themselves from being exposed on pollution outside. Here is an article i got from yahoo giving a list of ten hot home office jobs. You may be interested to just stay at home to work and earn well... this is for you.

Stop Pumping Gas: Ten Hot Home Office Jobs
by Joe Taylor Jr.

With fuel prices topping four dollars per gallon in some states, many Americans want to keep their paychecks in their pockets and out of their gas tanks. Thanks to cheap Internet access and fast computers, some workers can perform their jobs just as well from home as they can in the office. Government analysts recently identified ten fast-growing jobs that combine higher-than-average hourly wages with the benefits of working from home.

#1: Administrative Services Manager

Traditionally, administrative services managers oversee large support staffs in offices such as hospitals and law firms. As larger employers consolidate responsibilities for multiple locations into a handful of positions, more administrative services managers have earned the option to work some or all of their hours from a home office. Earning an associate's or bachelor's degree in business can help you gain the skills necessary for this managerial telecommuting job that often pays more than $30 per hour.

#2: Computer Systems Analyst

These information technology professionals help companies design state-of-the-art systems to run businesses. As employers use telecommuting jobs as a key strategy in their recruitment efforts, computer systems analysts often test new ideas at their own home offices. Learning about tools like virtual private network (VPN), video chat, and virtual desktops during a computer science degree program can help qualify graduates for home-based jobs that pay over $30 per hour.

#3: Database Manager

All kinds of companies rely on databases, from mom-and-pop service organizations to global retailers. Because most databases can be maintained from any live Internet connection, a growing number of database managers work remotely over secure, private networks. Though some database managers earn salaries from large employers, specialists with business degrees and computer training can earn over $30 an hour working from home as freelance database specialists.

#4: Public Relations Specialist

Because most public relations tasks involve phone or email, many PR specialists enjoy working from home at least a few days per week. With a bachelor's degree in communications, an office veteran can transition to a home-based job writing press releases and responding to media requests. Experienced PR professionals can complete online business training programs to launch their own practices as freelancers in home offices. In both cases, public relations specialists frequently earn more than $22 per hour.

#5: Paralegal

As more Americans seek quality legal representation, many law firms rely more heavily on paralegals for research assignments and routine tasks. Unlike lawyers, who must complete law school and pass a state bar exam, paralegals can start assisting on cases after completing an associate's degree program. Some law firms prefer to hire telecommuting paralegals to avoid adding office space. Other employers like the flexibility of bringing on temporary paralegals to cover sudden spikes in their caseloads. In both cases, many home-based paralegals earn over $20 an hour.

#6: Probation Officer

With many state governments trying to balance crowded jails with increased prosecution, many local agencies seek home-based probation officers.While the job often includes making site visits, many probation officers spend a significant portion of time on the phone or on email from home offices. With a bachelor's degree in social work, an experienced security professional can transition to this home-based career that offers a typical salary of $20 per hour plus government benefits.

#7: Web Design Professional

Early Web designers often received criticism for being teenagers working from home in their parents' attics. However, today's most successful Web design professionals enjoy home offices that boast high-speed Internet connections and fast workstations. Earning over $20 per hour as a home-based Web designer requires design skill, programming prowess, and a solid career portfolio. Most novice designers pick up all three of these success ingredients during Web design degree programs, many of which are available online.

#8: Desktop Publisher

Just as small businesses rely on public relations professionals to tell their stories, company owners look to desktop publishing professionals to make their stories look good in print. Advanced publishing tools now make it possible for desktop publishers to work from home, often earning over $20 as freelancers or in staff positions. Advanced training courses in graphic design and desktop publishing help these specialists retain the cutting-edge skills that help build strong client rosters.

#9: Medical Transcriptionist

As many doctors' offices and health care facilities struggle to meet the demands of increased patient loads, home-based medical transcriptionists ride to the rescue. By leveraging skills gained in campus-based or online medical transcription training programs, these specialists can earn $14 or more per hour without leaving home. In many cases, agencies or employers also cover the costs of computers and Internet connections for efficient transcriptionists.

#10: Virtual Assistant

Bootstrapping a business in today's economy often requires creative thinking. Some of the most creative and successful professionals in consulting, real estate, and health care have realized that they can reap the benefits of having full-time administrative assistance without the costs of expanding their own offices. Virtual assistants provide high-end secretarial tasks on demand for clients, usually from home offices. Completing an online training course is often the first step toward an essential work-from-home job that pays $13 or more per hour.

Smorty… Still Alive??? No more Opps!

Written on 11:42 PM by Mai

I’m still thinking of what happened to our dear smorty, its been a long time since I got my very last assignment from them, what the heck happened? Actually not so long ago, smorty has one of my paid review services that made me earn a lot.. I have two accounts in smorty. First account I had $62.40 earnings and the second has $74.40 earnings. Not bad isn’t it? That’s why I became so annoyed when they stop giving opportunities. And few friends of mine has the same experience with smorty.. is it lack of advertisers due to a large competition of paid review services? I really don’t know but I just hope they would be back to give their bloggers more opportunities, they must work on it because they already created a good name and so they must continue doing their work.. to make advertisers and bloggers happy…..

Nurses are still in demand (as of 2008)

Written on 3:23 PM by Mai

I've read some articles stating that nurses are still indemand in different countries. True enough that Filipino Nurses are increasing as well but some don't have necessary skills needed to be called a true nurse. - "According to Roque, Saudi Arabia alone is looking for Filipino nurses to fill in 10,000 vacancies in its public hospitals. And also, side from the oil-rich state, he said demand for nurses were also growing in Canada and Australia. " But some says that demand for nurses declines as compared on past years.

Here in the Philippines, the scenario is different, College Schools are crowded by nursing students which adds to a flock of nurses present. It's a well known fact that mostly, you needed 2 years experience in your country to be able to work abroad, this results to unemployed nurses because of difficulty entering a certain institution because they are filled with staff nurses, even as a volunteer, it's really difficult to have a slot. They don't want wards to be filled up with nurses. Well it's really needed for nurses to work hard on finding a good job.

Unearth Your Right Livelihood: Ten Laws for Finding Work that You Love

Written on 3:07 AM by Mai

Who doesn't want to wake up in the morning looking forward to their job with a positive outlook, knowing that coming back the next day is something they optimistically anticipate? However, this is not the reality for most of us. Most of us dread going to work and dread even more going back the next day. Why is this? We spend fully one third of our lives at work. Shouldn't we put more effort into finding a career path that we can enjoy, feel challenged by, and allows us to grow?

Each of us is an individual blend of unique gifts, talents, and passions. Combined together, the expression of this unique blend should offer us a career path that is perfect for our individuality. However, it isn't always easy to understand how our skills combine, nor is it easy to identify job descriptions that embody our skills. This can take a lot of work to determine how to channel our skills into an optimal career direction. Thus, we end up working in careers that our parents picked for us--or that we stumbled into--rather than what we may have chosen for ourselves through conscious intention and self-awareness.

Finding our right livelihood is a matter of pairing our interests with skills we have acquired while doing something we have a passion for in a way that generates us income. Our work should first and foremost be viewed as a vehicle of self-expression; something we do to express our individuality and not something we do just to derive an income. Wouldn't it be wonderful to look forward to going to work, knowing that each and every day for the rest of our life our work allowed us to thrive? By combining our vocation with our values and interests we just may find our right livelihood!

To assist in discovering one's right livelihood the following ten points are guidelines to provoke inspiration and offer a sort of check and balance for analyzing where a person's current career path may align with their skills and innate abilities.

The Ten Laws for a Happy Career

1. The innate purpose of work is self-expression and the more of yourself that you can express the happier you will be with your career.

2. The ideal work is found where your interests intersect with your skills and talents.

3. Work should be an expression of your values and beliefs.

4. Your ideal work is not an employment decision but a lifelong calling that you pursue because you are drawn to it like a magnet.

5. Your work should be a form of service for the greater good of humankind. Somehow it should improve the lives of your fellow citizens on this planet.

6. The more your career is in line with your purpose, the higher will be your level of satisfaction.

7. The key to finding your ideal career is remembering and understanding what you were first drawn to in life.

8. Finding your special path in life requires that you believe that there is one.

9. When you make the decision to pursue your purpose in life, you will find that the universe helps you along the way.

10. If you find passion is lacking in your life, then it may be because you are not actualizing your purpose in life. When you are pursuing your purpose, you will find passion in life.

Take some time and ponder the ten points. You may even want to take some time and journal on each and ask how they fit with your current employment. Perhaps you'll feel inspired, or maybe you will determine that you may benefit from some soul searching. If the latter is the case, you might consider taking some self-awareness courses to help you identify your passions and interests. There are many excellent career resources--like books, tapes, and seminars--that can assist in guiding you through processes that are designed to unearth your right livelihood, and deep inner calling.

Blogging = Money

Written on 11:52 PM by Mai

It started when a friend introduced me to blogging. I started blogging as a form of hobby but after some time, I started to do some explorations and realized that blogging could be a sort of an income, not much but you can have more if you give so much effort. Soon and I started to monetize my blog, made another blog and made another one and another one.... Later I just realized that I became addicted to blogging. Maybe because I'm really a computer person and I'm really frustrated when I went into being a nursing student instead rather that went into a computer course. I have no choice, my mom wants me to. Anyways, I do explore things on my own so I really don't have that knowledge in terms those SEO stuffs, building traffics, designs, etc... etc.. But I am really trying hard to explore and learn by my self. There are many helpful sites there for bloggers on which they provide blogging tips that is really helpful to bloggers like me and you. So I just hope that I could learn more and do more on my blogs... Have a nice day everyone!

I'm InDemand

Written on 12:03 AM by Mai

I graduated as a nursing student, just passed the local board exams and soon, will have an oath taking and will be getting my license after that. Really Exciting! But the truth was, I really didn't want this course, my mom just want me to since nurses are in demand all over the world and salary is really high especially if you work abroad (not here in the Philippines). So, as a good and loving child, I did take this course and was able to work on it nicely. More exams to come to be able to work abroad like NCLEX, CGFNS, TOEFL and others, i don't know if i have to take this all, maybe if there would be someone abroad that will get me, like direct hiring or others, I could go abroad that easy. News is all over that nurses are really indemand in different countries like Australia and in States. I trully hope that I could be able to go abroad soon and Earn a living. :)

P.S. Welcome to my New Blog... Happy Reading... :)
